The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Hello internet hermits. Hasn’t been that long since we last saw each other, has it? Bet y’all didn’t miss little old Koral for that long, now did ya’? See, I am getting better at this blogging thing! So proud of myself. Well in other news- as you most likely inferred by the title of this post- this is the Unpopular Opinions Tag! *audience (you) cheers* I honestly can’t wait to do this and I was tagged by the one and only- Aine (aka Writing On A Vintage Typewriter. To be honest, I just realized what her name was- sorry Aine! But in all seriousness, I love Aine to all ends. She’s so sweet and has now nominated me for at least two book tags (maybe three?) and one award (maybe more?). I don’t really remember what all she’s nominated me for, but I do know that she’s a sweetheart and that all of y’all (hey that rhymed!) should go follow her! I love her book reviews and book tags and just to put it simply: she’s awesome, go follow her. Now onto the book tag!

The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

1. A POPULAR BOOK OR SERIES THAT YOU DON’T LIKE.

I can not express this enough of just how much I hate the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy by E. L. James. Everyone talks about how sure, it is basically published porn that costs money to buy (not saying that you should go out and watch/read free and illegal pron- how we just all stay away from porn, huh?) but really everyone should be talking about how this book series sets up an entirely unhealthy image for a male partner. I mean I’ve heard teenage girls at my school going on and on about how they want Christian Grey as a boyfriend. Like honey, no you don’t! That is sexual abuse and just flat out gross and wrong on so many levels! My generation…

2. A POPULAR BOOK/SERIES EVERYONE HATES BUT YOU LOVE.

Wow, this one is hard. I supposed I’ve read a lot of bad reviews about the The Selection Series by Kiera Cass and I honestly am in love with those books (except for The Heir because I could literally stab that book feel no remorse except for hurting everyone that’s not Eadlyn and Jack and Aspen ad Lucy because I hate them). So yeah, let’s go with them.

3. A LOVE TRIANGLE WHERE THE PROTAGONIST ENDED UP WITH THE PERSON YOU DIDN’T WANT THEM TO BE WITH.

Once again hard. I guess if Harry, Ron, and Hermione from the Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling count, then them. Because I honestly wanted Harry and Hermione to get together. I know that would’ve been too obvious, but they are still the perfect match. Ron and Hermione just remind me of those two friends that would tease each other, but still be friends. So that’s basically a huge unpopular opinion of mine.

4. A POPULAR GENRE THAT YOU HARDLY READ.

Mystery/Crime. I have a few and one Mary Higgins Clark audiobook that my mum let me have and so yeah. When I do read them, they’re alright. But I don’t often become intrigued by mysteries on my own. Someone has to buy them for me as a present or I have to read one for school, otherwise I won’t bother.

5. A POPULAR CHARACTER THAT YOU HATE/DISLIKE.

Well this isn’t so hard, but at the same time it is. Oh, I got it! Adam Wilde from If I Stay/Where She Went by Gayle Forman. I hate his guts so bad. . . anyways. . .

IF I STAY ADAM JAMIE BLACKLEY SCREEN WORN JACKET & SCARF CH 16 SC 84-86

6. A POPULAR AUTHOR THAT YOU JUST CAN’T SEEM TO GET INTO.

Stephenie Meyers. I’ve heard people rave about Twilight and The Host, and to be frankly honest, I know I’m never going to read Twilight and I only have a 5% chance of actually reading The Host.

STEPHENIE MEYERS

7. A POPULAR TROPE YOU’RE TIRED OF READING.

I’m pretty tired of reading about where the girl has no idea what’s going on and then the beautiful stranger shows up and the girl depends so deeply on the mysterious and beautiful bad-boy stereotype stranger guy and the girl gets whiny, dependent, and weak. *cough cough* Bella Swan *cough cough*

Weak

8. A POPULAR SERIES YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING.

Uh, isn’t it obvious? The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyers! ‘Nuff said.

Twilight

9. A SHOW/MOVIE YOU LIKED BETTER THAN THE BOOK.

I honestly have no idea. Oops.

10. A POPULAR STYLE OF COVERS YOU CAN’T STAND.

I honestly don’t like those way too summery covers.

Home is where your books are,

The Time Traveling Writer.

  1. I like your answers! I enjoyed the Selection series, though I haven’t read The Heir yet. And I have no interest whatsoever to read Twilight, as well. Not only is it romance, it’s bad romance, from what I’ve heard. If I read a book about werewolves or vampires, I want it to be bloody.

And I have to disagree with you about the Harry/Hermione thing. I love Harry and Ginny, and I liked Hermione and Ron. When J. K. Rowling made that announcement I was one of the fans that was horrified.

    • Ah, well everyone has their own opinions when it comes to ships. And I’m pretty sure that Twilight has some abusive themes in it with Edward and Bella (whether it’s sexual or physical, I don’t know). And Bella literally has no spine from what I’ve heard. Oh, and I’m working on my LIebster Award thingy right now (i though you’d like to know). I’m glad you enjoyed the post!

  2. DON’T read Twilight! One word: Renesmee. Don’t read it. Oh god. Oh god.
The Hunger Games. Peeta, Gale, Katniss? HA! Still angry about that one. I could go on for HOURS.

  3. You and I have similar answers to questions one and two. The Selection gets loved as much as it gets hate. I thought it was such a cute, fun read.

I’m so glad that someone agrees with me when it comes to Harry and Hermione. I wished J.K. Rowling didn’t make Ron and Hermione end up together for “personal” reasons. Harry and Hermione were so perfect for each other..Though it may have helped that Daniel and Emma had such great chemistry in the movies that you can’t help but root for their characters to end up with each other.

      • Oh my gosh yes! I felt like the whole entire film franchise were shipping Harry and Hermione.

I was probably reading the series blindly that I failed to notice the attraction that Ron and Hermione had. Or I probably chose to ignore them because I hardcore shipped Hermione and Harry.

I totally understand as to why people were glad that Ron and Hermione ended up with each other. One possible reason is that for once the hero didn’t end up with the main heroine. But in this case I think it made a lot of sense for Harry and Hermione to end up together. And I was kind of upset when J.K. Rowling said that Harry and Hermione should have ended up together…Well too late now. :/

  4. OMG! I’m so happy you loved The Selection Series cause it’s one of my most fav series ever. I get why people don’t like it but it’s the simplicity of it and the Contemp feels it gave me is what I love the most about it. Though, yes The Heir made me super angry. I was so excited about it and then disappointment. Eadlyn is just too much for me.
